Off the Ropes – The Comeback #4 (Scott Rosen)
Series: The Comeback
Series Big Picture:
-When an untruth or a partial truth becomes truth to us, we get set up for a knockdown.
-The risen Jesus is truth for us, which sets us up for a comeback.

The Two Sides to Coming Off The Ropes
1.  Learning to be UNOFFENDABLE.
2.  CHOOSING reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:16-20
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Principles of Reconciliation
1.  Take a different VIEW of PEOPLE.
2.  Don’t KEEP SCORE yourself.
3.  Represent JESUS over SELF.
4.  EXAMINE yourself first.

    Knockdown’s and Comebacks

-When and untruth or a partial truth becomes truth to us, we get set up for a knock down.
-The risen Jesus is truth for us, which sets us up for a comeback.

“Hurt people, hurt people.” -Will Bowen

Those with an offense often build a DEFENSE.
The people CLOSEST to us will offend us the most.

How to Comeback From the Ropes
    1. Get “OVER” IT.

    Proverbs 19:11
A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

    Isaiah 55:8-9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

    Colossians 3:1-3
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

    2. Change your TACTICS.

    Colossians 3:4-15
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Come Back Questions – The Comeback #2 (Scott Rosen)
    Series: The Comeback
    Knock Downs and Comebacks
When UNTRUTHS or PARTIAL truths become truth to us, we get SET UP for a knockdown.

The RISEN JESUS is truth for us that sets up a comeback…which comes by FAITH.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. - John 14:6 (NIV)

    Comeback Question #1:
Do you want to believe what SOMEONE SAYS is true or do you want to know what ACTUALLY IS true?

Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed—and they waited for the moving of the waters. 4 From time to time an angel of the Lord would come down and stir up the waters. The first one into the pool after each such disturbance would be cured of whatever disease. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” - John 5:2-6 (NIV)

    Comeback Question #2:
Do you want to be WHOLE?

We are only ready for WHOLENESS when we are at the end of our BROKENNESS.

As long as people will live without more of God, they will. - Pastor Bill Nichols

    Comeback Question #3:
Is there anything keeping you from REPENTANCE?

Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well. - John 5:14-15 (NIV)

Easter – The Comeback #1 (Scott Rosen)
    Series: The Comeback

    John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

    Romans 1:2-4 (Living Bible Version)
This Good News was promised long ago by God’s prophets in the Old Testament. 3 It is the Good News about his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who came as a human baby, born into King David’s royal family line; 4 and by being raised from the dead he was proved to be the mighty Son of God, with the holy nature of God himself.

    -You are not an accident!
    Psalm 139:13-16
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;  your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

-We instinctively know something is wrong in life - and we have little peace.
    Isaiah 53:6a
    We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way;

Psalm 51:3-4  For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.

-What is wrong, the Bible calls “sin” - and there are consequences that come with it.
    Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
    Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death,

-Jesus was betrayed, beaten, crucified, and buried to set up our comeback.
    Isaiah 53:5-6
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

-Three days later God rose Jesus from the dead.
    Luke 24:1-8
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words.

    - Our comeback (our peace) is one decision away.
    John 1:12-13
12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
